Households still reliant on old Radio Teleswitch (RTS) meters are being assured that their heating and hot water won鈥檛 be disrupted by the planned switch-off of the devices.听
A mass switch-off planned for June 30 has been postponed, and energy suppliers are now being told to phase the old meters out gradually. Most will be replaced with smart meters.听
To check if you have one, look for a switch box labelled 鈥楻adio Teleswitch鈥� near your electric meter, or consider if you use electric heating, storage heaters, and get cheaper energy at certain times 鈥� especially if you don鈥檛 have gas.听
If you already have a smart meter, no action is needed. If you have an RTS meter, contact your energy supplier to upgrade 鈥� smart meters offer more accurate readings and are often installed for free. Check your mail for updates or contact us for help.听听
